In a hurry? Klook vs Ubigi at a glance:

  • Trip length: Klook’s per-day plans can be bought for any length from 1 to 30 days. Ubigi’s one-off plans last 3, 7, 8, 15 or 30 days (the 8-day plan is unlimited only).

  • Prices: Ubigi shows every one-off plan’s price on its website (10GB for 7 days is $14). Klook’s website shows a starting price, and you continue in its app.
  • Both: allow hotspot and start the plan when you arrive.

This Klook vs Ubigi comparison covers the two companies’ eSIMs for Japan: how the plans are built, what “unlimited” means on each, which networks they use, and where you see the price. We checked both companies’ Japan pages on the same day in October 2026. One thing we couldn’t compare is price plan by plan, because Klook’s website doesn’t show it. More on that below.

Based on each company’s Japan eSIM pages on October 10, 2026, with prices shown in US dollars. We checked Ubigi’s networks again on October 19, 2026, and Klook’s on October 27, 2026. We checked Ubigi’s new 8-day unlimited plan on October 30, 2026. Plans and prices change, and the currency you see may differ, so check the current details before you buy.

How each company builds its plans

Klook starts with a choice between two package types. “Data per day” gives you a daily allowance, either unlimited, 1GB or 3GB, and you pick the exact number of days from 1 to 30. “Data in total” gives you one amount for the whole trip, from 500MB to 50GB, and comes in ten lengths: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 days. Not every combination exists. The 50GB plan, for example, is offered for 15, 20, 25 or 30 days.

Ubigi sells a short list of one-off plans. Each has a set amount of data, or unlimited data, for a fixed number of days, and each has its own page with the price.

Ubigi plan Price (USD)
1GB · 3 days$3.50
5GB · 15 days$10
10GB · 7 days$14
10GB · 30 days$16.50
25GB · 30 days$32
50GB · 30 days$55
Unlimited · 8 days$25
Unlimited · 15 days$39
Unlimited · 30 days$65

If your trip is 9 or 12 days, Klook’s per-day plans fit it exactly. With Ubigi you would pick a plan that runs longer than your trip: 5GB or unlimited for 15 days, or a 30-day plan if you want a fixed 10GB or more.

Why there is no Klook price table

When we opened Klook’s Japan eSIM page in a web browser, without logging in, it showed one price, US$1.05, as the starting point. Choosing a package type, a number of days and an amount of data didn’t change it, and the button under the options says “Continue on app”. So you see Klook’s price for your exact plan in the Klook app. Ubigi’s prices above are on its website, with no account or app needed to see them.

That is why this guide doesn’t say which of the two is cheaper. We would rather leave that out than guess. If price decides it for you, open the Klook app, build the plan you need, and put the number next to Ubigi’s table.

What “unlimited” means on each

The two companies mostly limit unlimited data in different ways. Klook counts by the day: 10GB a day at full speed, then the connection slows to 128 kbps. Ubigi counts across the whole plan on its 15-day and 30-day plans: 30GB at full speed on the 15-day plan or 60GB on the 30-day plan, then 2 Mbps. Its 8-day plan counts by the day instead, like Klook: 5GB a day at full speed, then 2 Mbps.

Two numbers follow from that. Spread over the full plan, Ubigi’s allowance works out at an average of 2GB a day on the 15-day and 30-day plans, against Klook’s 10GB a day. After the limit, though, Ubigi’s 2 Mbps is more than 15 times Klook’s 128 kbps. Klook also sells unlimited data for any number of days from 1 to 30, while Ubigi’s unlimited plans are 8, 15 or 30 days.

Networks, hotspot and when the plan starts

Klook’s network depends on the package type: SoftBank 5G for per-day plans and IIJ (Docomo) 4G LTE for total-data plans. When we checked again on October 19, 2026, Ubigi listed KDDI, NTT Docomo and SoftBank on all eight of the one-off plan pages. Klook lists its coverage as all of Japan.

Both allow sharing. Klook lists hotspot sharing as “Yes”, and Ubigi’s plan pages say data sharing is allowed.

Both can be installed before you fly without using up the plan. Klook says usage and validity start only when the eSIM connects to an overseas network. Ubigi calls its version Smartstart: the plan’s activation starts when you arrive at your destination. Ubigi says its eSIM installs on an unlocked, eSIM-compatible device, and Klook asks you to check device compatibility before you choose a plan. On an iPhone, you can check the lock in Settings > General > About; next to Carrier Lock it should say “No SIM Restrictions”. Our eSIM setup guide walks through the installation.

Refunds and extras

Klook states its refund rule on the product page: cancel before the eSIM connects and you get a full refund. After activation, Klook says low usage qualifies for a full refund if you face issues, higher usage may qualify for a partial one, and all refunds are at its discretion. We didn’t check Ubigi’s refund terms for this guide, so read them before you buy.

Klook also has a Data Bank in its app, which it says saves unused data from this plan for your next trip. Ubigi says its eSIM can be reused in more than 200 destinations and recharged in the app without WiFi or data credit.

Klook or Ubigi: which to choose

  • Your trip is an odd length, such as 9 or 12 days: Klook. Its per-day plans cover any length from 1 to 30 days.
  • You want unlimited data for a trip length Ubigi doesn’t sell: Klook, which sells any length from 1 to 30 days. Ubigi’s unlimited plans are 8, 15 or 30 days.
  • You use several gigabytes every day: Klook’s 10GB a day at full speed is the larger allowance.
  • You want to see the exact price before installing an app: Ubigi. Every one-off plan’s price is on its website.
  • You want a fixed plan for about a week: Ubigi’s 10GB for 7 days is $14. Check Klook’s app for its price on a similar plan.
  • You care about the speed after the unlimited limit: Ubigi slows to 2 Mbps, Klook to 128 kbps.

Ubigi keeps a short list and puts the price of each one on its website, with a 2 Mbps limit after the unlimited allowance runs out.
