Sakura Mobile Discount Code and Mobal Discounts (2026): Every Offer Explained

Mobal and Sakura Mobile both sell monthly plans with a Japanese phone number, and both offer ways to pay less when you sign up. This guide lists every discount we found on the two companies’ own pages and help centers in October 2026, what each one takes off, and how to claim it. All prices are in yen with tax included.

Monthly fees are separate. Sakura Mobile’s plans with a number start at ¥3,278 a month (5GB). Mobal’s start at ¥1,430 a month for voice and SMS only, or ¥1,650 for 1GB. Both charge ¥4,378 for 30GB.
Sakura Mobile discounts
Promo code SAKURA26: ¥1,000 off
Sakura Mobile’s help center lists the promo code SAKURA26 for its monthly SIM, eSIM and WiFi products. It takes ¥1,000 off the initial registration fee. Apply for a monthly plan, continue from the link Sakura Mobile emails you, and on the last page (Page 4: Confirmation and Payment) enter SAKURA26 and click Apply. The help page gives no end date; it was listed when we checked in October 2026.
Student discount: ¥1,100 off
For monthly plans, students get ¥1,100 off the ¥5,500 activation fee. Choose the student option in step 2 of the application and upload proof that you are a student. Sakura Mobile accepts, for example, a student ID with your name, school name and expiry date, or an admission letter with your name, school name and admission date. If you don’t see the option, enter the code “studentdiscount” on the final step. The student discount doesn’t apply to Sakura Mobile’s travel SIMs, eSIMs or pocket WiFi. For those, Sakura Mobile instead takes 10% off automatically when you buy two or more of the same product and duration, and ships travel SIM and pocket WiFi orders for free.
You can’t combine them. Sakura Mobile says you can apply only one discount, so a student should use the student discount (¥1,100) rather than SAKURA26 (¥1,000).
Second contract: ¥110 activation fee
If you already have a Sakura Mobile monthly contract, or you are signing up for a second one, the activation fee for the next monthly SIM, eSIM, pocket WiFi or Home WiFi drops from ¥5,500 to ¥110. Order with the same email address as your other contract, then apply through the discount link on Sakura Mobile’s help page; it won’t apply without the link. For fiber internet, the activation fee also drops to ¥110 and the physical installation fee from ¥25,300 to ¥13,200.
Referrals: 3,000 points each
Current Sakura Mobile monthly customers can invite a friend by sharing a referral code. Once the friend’s monthly contract is completed, both get 3,000 points, about 2.5 months after the friend’s contract starts, as long as both contracts stay active for at least 3 months with no unpaid bills. Points can be used for Sakura Mobile products or gift cards. Sakura Mobile doesn’t allow referral codes to be posted on blogs, so ask a friend who uses it rather than searching online. Sakura Mobile says the campaign may end without prior notice, and the referral code expires after 1 month.

Mobal discounts
Our link: 10% off the SIM or eSIM
Through the Mobal links on this page, the SIM or eSIM costs ¥4,455 instead of ¥4,950 (10% off). The discounted price shows automatically, so you don’t need a code. The discount applies to the SIM or eSIM price only, not to the monthly plan fees. Mobal doesn’t charge a separate activation fee.
A friend’s referral link: around ¥1,000 off
If someone you know already uses Mobal, they can share a referral link from their Mobal account. Ordering a Voice SIM or eSIM through it gives you around ¥1,000 off (10% off for data-only products), and your friend gets a ¥1,000 credit once your plan is activated. That is a bigger discount than our link, so if you have a friend on Mobal, use theirs.
Pocket WiFi: 10% off for SIM customers
If you keep a Mobal Voice+Data SIM or eSIM active, Mobal takes 10% off its Japan pocket WiFi monthly fee, applied automatically each month.

- You are a student choosing Sakura Mobile: the student discount, ¥4,400 to sign up.
- You are not a student choosing Sakura Mobile: SAKURA26, ¥4,500 to sign up.

- You are choosing Mobal and know a Mobal user: their referral link.
- You are choosing Mobal on your own: our link, ¥4,455 with no code.
Over a long stay, the monthly fee matters more than the sign-up cost. If you need very little data, Mobal’s smallest plans (¥1,430 voice-only, ¥1,650 for 1GB) cost less each month than Sakura Mobile’s smallest (¥3,278 for 5GB). With Sakura Mobile, pick one discount: the student discount if you are a student, otherwise SAKURA26. With Mobal, use a friend’s referral link if you have one, or our link for ¥495 off the SIM or eSIM. After the sign-up cost, the monthly plan you choose makes the bigger difference over a long stay.
